ANCHOR Subaward Announcement 

Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) is pleased to announce the three organizations that have been awarded funding for the initial period of performance for Adolescents Navigating Change, Health, and Ongoing Recovery (ANCHOR). A total of $3,000,000 has been approved to be distributed across 3 years by the Illinois Opioid Remediation Advisory Board (IORAB) for ANCHOR services in the state of Illinois.   

ANCHOR subrecipients will work to reduce adolescent deaths from synthetic opioids by achieving the following objectives:  

  • Increase engagement of adolescents, particularly those who may be less motivated to seek help, and their families or caregivers, in the system of care.  
  • Increase access to evidence-based and innovative resources and programs, including harm reduction, treatment, and recovery supports, tailored for adolescents and their families.  
  • Reduce barriers to retention for adolescents and their families in the system of care.  

To accomplish these objectives, ANCHOR subrecipients will establish programs that can include:  

  • Comprehensive interventions including screening and/or crisis response, adolescent treatment services, and outreach and engagement initiatives  
  • Innovative approaches such as online recovery groups, recovery high schools, recovery groups for adolescents, and evidence-based family support interventions  
  • Telehealth services and training and technical assistance to providers to support online activities  
  • Harm reduction education and programs for adolescents and their families as well as other people who interact with adolescents.

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago – Chicago, Bellwood Region (Cook County) 

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago provides pediatric care in a setting that offers the latest benefits and innovations in medical technology, research and family-friendly design. Lurie Children’s is the largest pediatric provider in the region with a more than 140-year legacy of excellence serving children and their families. 

Hult Center for Healthy Living – Peoria, Peoria Region 

Hult Center for Healthy Living is Peoria’s provides comprehensive health education and wellness services for people of all ages.  Their mission is to empower people to live healthier lives. Hult Center serves the communities of Central Illinois through health education programs and services for all ages, and extends well beyond the local community through virtual health education, outreach programs, and services.  

Kenneth Young Center – Schaumburg, Bellwood Region (Cook County) 

Kenneth Young Center partners with communities to support people of all ages to navigate life’s challenges through personalized prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery. Kenneth Young Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit fostering healthier communities through counseling, treatment, support, and recovery services for those with serious mental illness, substance use prevention and recovery, alcohol, drug, and pregnancy prevention programs for youth, and more.
